 Matagorda County Hospital District provides care for critically ill patients of all ages and with various disease processes. Critical nursing care is provided in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The nurses in these areas have specialized education and experience to deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients. The art of caring is balanced with the science of advancing technology.

Critical Care Units specialize in providing rapid assessment and treatment, particularly during the initial phases of acute illness or trauma. |

The Intensive Care Unit cares for patients who are very sick and require more nursing care. |

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides specialized care for patients recovering from surgery in the immediate post-op period. |

|
|
The Emergency Department provides care for patients with a wide variety of illnesses or injuries. These range from a cut finger or sore throat to a heart attack or major car crash. |
